When I started writing The Journey, it was a way for me to reflect and share with the Customer Success community.
Two years and 20k subscribers later, it’s time for the next chapter.
The Journey is becoming After the Close.
There won’t be any newsletter issues in October while I get everything ready. But on November 3rd, After the Close will land in your inbox. From there, you’ll hear from me every other week.
Same me, just a new perspective, and more you can put to use.
Here’s why.
When I started this, so many people I spoke to were facing the same challenges when I started this. They were building something meaningful that would scale, all while trying to convince their peers that their work mattered too. They were trying to build a career in CS while building a brand in the community because everyone kept telling them that was the way.
They just needed a little help and sometimes a little inspiration.
That was the purpose of this newsletter.
But since going out on my own, my perspective has changed. I’ve lived those experiences and challenges, and they’ll always inform my work. But I’m helping companies in a different way now, and I want my content to reflect that.
Over the last two years, so many of you have sent me emails and texts to tell me how much a specific issue resonated with you.
Those notes were exactly what I needed to remind me that what I’m doing is making a difference. And they helped me see that I didn’t need to go away. I just needed to shift gears a bit.
So instead of your CCO friend, think of this next chapter as your Customer Revenue Advisor bestie.
I’ll share insights, lessons and frameworks as if you were one of my customers, drawing from my work with SaaS companies, VC and PE firms, and the conversations I’m having in the CS community.
We’ll get into retention, expansion, and how to connect the work you’re doing in CS to the revenue outcomes your business cares about. Expect practical frameworks and free resources to help you turn those ideas into action with your team.
And because I intend to give you more to work with, I want to give you time to actually put it to use. You’ll still hear from me on Tuesdays at 9am EST, just every other week.
This will feel more practical and a little less like storytelling. I mean, of course there will still be stories because I can’t abandon who I am as a chatty New Yorker. But my goal is for you to finish each issue with something you can use.
So here is my hope.
I hope you’ll stay. Give After the Close a read when it arrives on November 3rd. It will still be free and unsponsored. Just me, sharing what I’m learning and what I think can help.
And I hope you’ll tell me what you think. Many of you already do (thank you). Keep those notes coming. Tell me what resonates, what you’re putting to use, and what you could use a little more help with. You can reply to this email and tell me now, too.
I’m so proud of what I built with The Journey, but I’m even more excited about what’s to come.
See you November 3rd.
